In December 2009, Gourmantic was asked to participate in a global project which originally started as a meme by Tripbase. Travel bloggers were asked to write their Three Best Travel Secrets which Tripbase turned into a series of eBooks. These were subsequently made available for free download, and for every person who downloaded an eBook, Tripbase made a $1 donation to Charity:Water.
Gourmantic’s entries were featured in 3 of the 7 eBooks, Worldwide Travel, Foodie Travel and Travel Tips which we promoted on the website through a badge which counted the number of downloads.
Tripbase have now reported that as a result of the Best Kept Travel Secrets Campaign, the eBooks raised enough money to bring fresh water to Abay Tshihdi Village in Ethiopia. 438 people now have access to clean and safe drinking water thanks to the collective efforts of the travel blogging community.

Gourmantic is proud to have taken part in this global project, and we thank all our readers who have downloaded the eBooks. More information about the campaign is available here.

Wow, I remember everyone having the badges on their blogs – we’d only been blogging a matter of days at this point. Great that you were a part of it. 🙂
