Sips & Bites #9: Gojima at The Star, Lotus Barangaroo, Belle’s Hot Chicken Barangaroo, Sin-Ko-Nah Tonic Syrup & Bulldog Gin

Sips & Bites is a new section featuring bite-sized information on new restaurants and bars including what’s on in Sydney. This new feature replaces the monthly “New Restaurant and Bars Openings” and is published on a regular basis.

Gojima @ The Star

Chase Kojima, Executive Chef of Sokyo in Sydney and Kiyomi on the Gold Coast is opening a new casual dining and take-away restaurant, Gojima, at The Star Sydney, in the space opposite Momofuku Seiobo. The venue will introduce rice burgers to Sydney along Japanese and local beer, wine, soft drinks and thickshakes. Gojima at the Star is set to open later in 2016.

Lotus Barangaroo. a 160-seater restaurant is set to open on Friday 30 September along Wulugul Walk bringing Lotus modern Chinese favourites as well as some new Shanghainese-inspired dishes. Seafood will feature on the menu with southern rock lobster, green lobster, Queensland mud crab and Western Australian snow crab fished from the live tanks. Dumplings will also feature on the menu with additions such as spanner crabmeat and prawn dumpling; chicken siu mai dumplings; and steamed pork wontons with sesame paste and black mushrooms. Lotus will open seven days for lunch and dinner.

Belle’s Hot Chicken Barangaroo

Belle’s Hot Chicken opened the doors to a permanent 130-seat eatery at South Barangaroo, offering a larger menu, table service and some natural wines from Australian winemakers. The takeaway offer will still be there and will have its own separate window for ordering. The venue is open Monday to Saturday, 12pm to 11pm and Sunday, 12pm to 10pm.

Bulldog Gin @ Taylor’s Rooftop

Bulldog Gin at Taylor’s Rooftop is hosting live music on Wednesday evenings from the 14th of September. Celebrations will then continue through to October in Melbourne at the Penny Black until September 30th and Brisbane at the Statler and Waldorf until October 4th.

Sin-Ko-Nah Tonic Syrup

 

This summer, try Sin-Ko-Nah Tonic Syrup, made using cinchona bark which gives the G&T a reddish colour. Bittersweet with citrus notes and infused with juniper.
