Canton Kitchen Opens in Castlecrag

Not to be confused with Canton! Canton!, Canton Kitchen is opening in Castlecrag’s Quadrangle Shopping Village this February.

Canton Kitchen

Cantonese cuisine is getting a modern makeover when ex-Queen Chow Head Chef Jason Chan opens a new concept restaurant, Canton Kitchen in Castlecrag’s Quadrangle Shopping Village this February.

At Canton Kitchen, diners will find a menu filled with modernised Cantonese classics, offering traditional Chinese restaurant fare with a twist. The menu blends traditional flavours with updated ingredients for the perfect marriage of old and new, sweetness and spice, the familiar and the unexpected.

As a rising star in Sydney’s cuisine scene, Jason Chan has cooked in some of the city’s favourite hatted restaurants and is responsible for the updated Cantonese offerings at Canton Kitchen. Entrees include silken tofu with vegetarian XO sauce topped with soy bean floss and crispy wonton skins ($14); Roasted Aylesbury duck served Peking style with steamed pancakes ($26); and hot and numbing chicken wings ($15).

For mains, diners can expect to find delicacies like Mapo tofu, lobster, Alaskan crab, puffed rice ($38) and garlic and butter Moreton Bay bugs ($42) alongside reworked local Chinese restaurant staples like sticky Mongolian lamb ribs with a herb salad ($32) and Kung Pao chicken, macadamia nuts, dried chillies and Sichuan pepper ($26).

Sides, rice and noodle options also follow with the restaurant theme, offering up Alaskan crab “typhoon shelter” fried rice ($26), Canton Kitchen special fried rice, prawns, char sui and corn ($18), Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce and crispy garlic $15) and Twice cooked green beans chilli & garlic ($18).

Canton Kitchen offers two 10 course banquet menus for groups of four and up and is open for group bookings with two private function rooms.
