Mary’s Sydney CBD
Has Sydney had enough of burger madness? Apparently not. Word on the street social media is that Mary’s of Newtown will open a Mary’s CBD outpost this spring serving a range of takeaway burgers and fried chicken. Don’t expect booze just food. 154 Castlereagh Street, Sydney 2000.
International Beer Day
Friday, August 1st is International Beer Day and The Ivy is attempting to break the World Record for the “largest beer tasting in a single venue”, an event hosted by The Beer Pilgrim. The current world record stands at 322 participants. A tasting paddle of three beers is to be sampled in a blind tasting starting at 6.00pm.
The Langham Sydney
It was champagne as final drinks at The Langham Sydney last week as the luxury hotel closed for major renovations. Langham CEO Bob Warman was in attendance as well as other international delegates. The expected opening date is December 1, 2014.
Sydney Tea Festival
The inaugural Sydney Tea Festival is taking place at on Sunday, 17 August 2014 at the Blacksmith’s Workshop at Carriageworks in Eveleigh. It will include a free tea market and ticketed tea workshops www.sydneyteafestival.com.au
CafeSmart
Annual charity event, CafeSmart is calling on coffee drinkers to make a cupful of difference on Friday 8 August 2014. The initiative, from charity StreetSmart is aiming to raise money for grassroots homeless services, from consumers’ daily caffeine hit. www.streetsmartaustralia.org
2014 U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year
