This week’s round-up of what’s new, what’s cool, what to drink:

The Rook

Get excited! After the Newtown Hotel and Sweethearts Rooftop BBQ, comes The Rook, an elevator access only rooftop restaurant and bar in the Sydney CBD. The new Keystone Group venture is expected to open any time and will be serving a menu of burgers and lobster. Rooftop, 56-58 York St, Sydney.

Cabrito Coffee Traders

Located beside Tapavino and below the soon to open Bulletin Place Bar, Cabrito Coffee Traders is expected to start roasting beans and serving coffee from next week. The laneway will soon be buzzing with coffee, Tapas, sherry and a small bar. 10-14 Bulletin Place, Sydney.


After El Topo in Bondi Junction and Mexico Food and Liquor, rumour has it that another Mexican eatery is set to open early in 2013. Mejico, as it will be called, will be located near Jamie’s Italian at 105 Pitt St, Sydney.

Ledaig 10yo

Continuing our What to Drink series…

With our bipolar Sydney summer weather, on coolish nights, we’re enjoying Ledaig 10 yo, a heavily peated single malt whisky from the Isle of Mull, neat after dinner on those coolish Sydney nights or in a smoky Martini.

And when the sun is out, nothing says fiesta time that a spicy Sangrita with Herradura Tequila Plata.
