Patient Wolf Gin Distillery

Patient Wolf Distilling Co. is a new boutique gin distillery located in Melbourne’s inner northern suburb of Brunswick.

  Patient Wolf Distillery

For their venture, business partners Matt Argus and Dave Irwin travelled around the world to learn the craft of distilling from experts in the field including Master Distiller, Anders Bilgram from Nordisk Branderi distillery in Denmark. They’ve met with still makers, gin experts, craft producers and farmers who supply their botanicals.

Patient Wolf Distillery

Patient Wolf Premium Dry Gin is made using native and exotic botanicals including tonka bean, Australian citrus, elderflower, ruby grapefruit and pure water. The gin is crafted in a custom-built 230 litre Müller copper pot still from Germany, one of two Müller stills in Australia and the only one with a patented Aromat column. It allows the more delicate botanicals such as ruby grapefruit and elderflower to be vapour infused in the carter head instead of traditionally being placed in the pot with the other botanicals.

Each run produces 220 bottles which will have the batch number and the distillation date handwritten on the label.

The name Patient Wolf, was inspired by a famous quote (“A gentleman is simply a patient wolf”) by American actress Lana Turner from the Prohibition times. and the owners believes it typifies their gin as “refined, sophisticated but with a bit of edge and attitude to it.”
