Nomad in Surry Hills has opened this week. The concept is that of a cellar door in the inner city offering Australian wine and a taste the best of Australian produce. Newtown Good Food Fair
Newtown Good Food Fair is to be held on Sunday 13th October from 11am-4pm at Newtown Square outside the Hub. Local eateries including Miss Peaches, Bloodwood and The Animal @ Newtown Hotel will join forces to recreate some of their signature dishes at street food prices, in an effort to raise money for the Newtown Community Centre.
Adam Liaw Asian After Work
Adam Liaw, MasterChef Australia winner and cookbook author has launched his second cookbook, Asian After Work. In this tome, he shares his love for Asian food and through a series of fast, simple and healthy food designed to complement a busy lifestyle.
Booza Ice Cream

If you’ve travelled to the Levant, chances are you’ve indulged in the deliciously stringy, melt-in-the mouth ice cream. Booza uses a combination of authentic ingredients including Sahlab, ground roots of the orchid Orchus mascula and Mastica, the gum from the Mastic tree to make preservative, gluten and egg free ice creams. Two new flavours are now available for the summer season, Coffee & Cardamom, a combination renowned in the Middle East and the refreshing Lemon & Mint Sherbet. Bring on summer, we say.

Island Bar at Cockatoo Island is back for another season. A mere 12 minute ferry ride from Circular Quay can have you kicking back on sun loungers and day beds, sipping on cocktails and munching on made-to-order pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven. Add hip tunes from guests DJs and you may never want to leave the island.
Hello Sailor
If you prefer to dock inland, Hello Sailor in Darlinghurst is now offering late night dining until 3 am on weekends. Think ‘MF’ Italian club sandwich (pancetta, gorgonzola, prosciutto, mortadella & provolone) and a range of paninis while Sundays will feature a Surf & Turf combo for $25. 96 Oxford Street, or entry through Foley Street, between Crown and Palmer Streets.
Asia On Your Doorstep
The second annual Asia On Your Doorstep festival is running throughout October. On Friday 25 October, Little Hay Street will be transformed into Little Eat Street with street food, yum cha, teppanyaki, sushi, pho and more. www.asiaonyourdoorstep.com.au
Little Creatures
Little Creatures are celebrating Sydney Craft Beer Week by collaborating with Sydney’s aMBUSH Gallery in Waterloo to create an exhibition showcasing an impressive range of artists, craftsmen and designers. Kicking off Friday 25 October at 6pm, the exhibition continues over the weekend, where you can explore everything from tattoo art, sculpture and sign-writing, to floral works inspired by Little Creatures’ ingredients. Friday 25 October from 6-9pm and continues on Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm.
