Le Petit Flot at Tank Stream Hotel Celebrates Taste of the State

Le Petit Flot restaurant at Tank Stream Hotel is championing NSW food and wines with the new “Taste of the State” menu, highlighting its connection with NSW.

Le Petit Flot

The Tank Stream Hotel was developed over the still flowing stream – originally called Tank Stream and now Sydney Cove – which lends its name to the restaurant, Le Petit Flot, meaning the little stream.

The restaurant has partnered with a range of wine brands such as Hungerford Hill and Dalwood Estate and Sweetwater Wines by General manager and Senior Winemaker Bryan Currie (ex McWilliams Wines). The NSW wines feature Hunter Valley varietals such as Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz as well as Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the cooler Hilltops region and Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir from Tumbarumba.

Start with Hungerford Hill Dalliance 2013 Methode Traditionelle, a sparkling wine that is fresh and lively, crisp on the palate with a pleasant brioche note and balanced acidity.

Confit Chicken Supreme

The Confit Chicken Supreme from Southern Highlands of NSW can be paired with three wines. Hungerford Hill Semillon 2018 Hunter Valley, a ripe Semillon with fragrant lemon and lime fruit and crisp natural acidity. It’s easy drinking with marked acidity combined with a citrus note. The Sweetwater Semillon 2018 Hunter Valley, and the pick of this wine bracket, is all about ripe fruit with the juice wild fermented to produce a wine with grapefruit and thyme aromatics, followed by a crisp and textured finish. Hungerford Hill Pinot Grigio 2018 Tumbarumba is fresh, bright and fruity with notes of nashi pear and red apple.

Pork Belly

The Pork Belly with sugar and mustard accompaniment hails from Braemar in the Southern Slopes of NSW.

Le Petit Flot

Pair it with Hungerford Hill Chardonnay 2016 Hunter Valley, a fruit-driven, honey melon drop with subtle French oak. The Dalwood Estate Chardonnay 2017 Hunter Valley brings a creamy palate and a mild and pleasant funky note from the wild ferment. Big bold aromatics are at play with notes of peaches and a textural buttery palate. Alternatively, the Pinot Noir 2017 Tumbarumba brings  aromas of red cherry, spice and forest herbs with a hint of spice on the finish.

Le Petit Flot

Lamb Rack

Junee Gold lamb from the Riverina in NSW can be paired with Hungerford Hill Fish Cage Pinot Noir Shiraz 2017 Tumbarumba/Hunter Valley, elegant and juicy with red fruits character and subtle spice. The Hungerford Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 NSW Hilltop is abundant with blackcurrant fruit, smooth tannins and a long, balanced and integrated finish.

Le Petit Flot

Wagyu Rump

The Wagyu Rump with 5+ marble score from Northern NSW calls for robust wines with length and character. The Dalwood Estate Shiraz 2017 Hunter Valley bursts on the palate with dark red fruits, warm spices and lingers with soft tannins while the Sweetwater Shiraz Single Valley 2017 brings a floral and fruity character underpinned with vanillins, spice and oak tannins.

Le Petit Flot is located on level one of the Tank Stream Hotel and is open for lunch Mondays to Fridays and for dinner on Saturdays .
