Electrolux Appetite for Excellence 2017 Winners

The Electrolux Appetite for Excellence 2017 winners were announced last night at a beach barbecue held in Noosa. Now in its 12th years, the awards attract the best of Australia’s food industry each year and celebrate young talent and the future of the industry.

The Electrolux Appetite for Excellence 2017 Winners are:

Electrolux Australian Young Waiter 2017
Winner: Andrew Gale; Grossi Florentino, VIC
Runner-up: James Boden; St Hugo, SA & George Papaioannou; Sixpenny, NSW

Electrolux Australian Young Chef 2017
Winner: Shui Ishizaka; Bennelong Restaurant, NSW
Runner-up: Alanna Sapwell; Saint Peter, NSW

Electrolux Australian Young Restaurateur 2017
Winner: Thi Le; Anchovy VIC

The prizes are as follows:

Young Chef of the Year: Participate in an overseas culinary experience created by Sanpellegrino to increase culinary skills, knowledge and techniques; return economy flights courtesy of Virgin Australia to participate in staging; visit the Electrolux Innovation Centre, Italy; and $3,000 spending money.

Young Waiter of the Year: Participate in an overseas culinary experience created by Sanpellegrino; return economy flights courtesy of Virgin Australia to participate in staging; plus a two-day visit to a renowned Australian winery with the winemaker, including flights and accommodation; and $3,000 spending money

Young Restaurateur of the Year: Participate in an all expenses paid overseas culinary experience created by Sanpellegrino; Return economy flights courtesy of Virgin Australia to participate in an overseas trip; and $5,000 to invest in their business
