Best New Sydney Restaurant & Bar Openings – June 2016

With the start of winter, here are the latest restaurants to warm those stomachs and hearts.

El Camino Cantina

No.1 Bent St by Mike McEnearney, he of the eponymous Kitchen by Mike, has opened with the continuing philosophy of simple food, good produce all done very well with a wider menu paired with small producer wines from around the world. No.1 Bent St, CBD (next to The Wintergarden)

Brigade Dining has reopened after renovations and continues with its ethos of casual fine dining showcasing Australian produce with its new Autumn/Winter menu. Level 1, The Light Brigade, Corner of Oxford St & Jersey Road, Woollahra.

El Camino Cantina has now opened its doors and is serving up Tex-Mex with a rock and roll attitude backed up with an extensive list of over 200 tequila and mezcals. 18 Argyle St The Rocks.

Websters Bar in Newtown (formerly Zanzibar)  has opened with a street bar, Webster’s Bourbon Bar and Grill as well as its 1950’s themed roof top bar in this historic site.  323 King St Newtown.

Mekong has now joined the Kensington St culinary ranks above its sister, Lower Mekong. With a menu that takes you through the flavours of Indochine has been brought together by Chef Tiw Rakarin (Mama’s Buoi, Bang Luck) discover the delights that touch the river banks it is named after. Upper level, 14 Kensington Street, Chippendale.

Charlotte’s Little Sister offers a menu for all to start the day before the lunch menu showcases slow cooked rotisserie meats with fresh salads and organic rolls. Open Mon – Fri 6am – 4pm.  Australian Technology Park, 1 Central Avenue, Eveleigh.

Everyone has seen a Deus ex Machina t-shirt. Now Deus Bar & Kitchen has opened, by the team from Bondi’s The Bucket List, with a nod to Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine under Head Chef Zac Pauling.Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and with a bar to settle back and relax in 102-104 Parramatta Road, Camperdown.

The Dolphin Hotel is set to reopen early this month after reworking the space with a modern take. With three distinct spaces, a Dining Room, Wine Room and a Public Bar with an open-air terrace the servings include Italo-Australian influence food with wines and beers having a producer focus. 412 Crown Street, Surry Hills
