The Vermouth Collective, a project by Mark Ward and Giuseppe Gallo is launching this month. The initiative is aimed at bringing together the producers and the brands leading the vermouth renaissance to create a global showcase and a voice for vermouth.
The Vermouth Collective is launching with founding member brands: Carlo Alberto (Italy), Imbue (USA), Mancino (Italy), Oscar 697 (Italy) Regal Rogue (Australia), Sacred (UK) and Turin Vermouth (Italy). The aim is to encourage brands from each region to participate in the collective and support each other across the business of vermouth and consolidate costs for international marketing activity.
One of the activities is the inaugural Vermouth Week (November 7th-11th) in conjunction with Tales of the Cocktail. A global multi-city tasting is scheduled over three countries presenting Australian, American and European styles of vermouth. All three tastings will be captured through Facebook live.
Australia is first, with a tasting of new world vermouths at the newly-opened Banksii vermouth bar in Sydney. Hosted by Mark Ward, the trade tasting will take place on Tuesday 8th November from 4pm to 6 pm AEST. Next is the USA varietals tasting in Portland on Wednesday 9th November, from 2-4pm PST, hosted by Neil Kopplin. Vermouth Week will conclude on Friday 11th November with a tasting of European varietals at Mele e Pere in London, 3.30-5.30pm GMT, hosted by Giuseppe Gallo (Italicus).
You can join the tastings live on Facebook at www.facebook.com/thevermouthcollective.
