What a year 2014 has been! We’ve written over 375 articles to date – the highest number ever – and it is with a sense of nostalgia that we look back at the highlights.
2014 has taken us on media trips to London, Paris, Istanbul. We flew business class with Turkish Airlines with a flying chef on board, enjoyed business class on the Eurostar, and later in the year, cruised the high seas with Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas.
We kicked off the bartender profile series with a bang, and presented Women in Whisky, a project that had long been in planning. We gave the website a shiny new look and design, and had the pleasure of judging several cocktail competitions including voting on the World’s Best 50 Bars.
There have been numerous memorable events in 2014. We’ve partied with Baz Luhrmann (ABSOLUT Oz launch) and Chris Noth (Chivas Extra launch), enjoyed a private lunch with Colin Scott Chivas Master Blender. We were chosen as media partner for Omnivore Jeune Cuisine, and we sponsored and presented the Best Bar Food Award at the Australian Bar Awards by Australian Bartender Magazine.
We’ve named the Top 10 Restaurant Dishes and Top 10 Cocktails of 2014, we also listed the Top 12 Food and Drink Trends That Should Die along with the ones we loved.
But the main event of 2014 was a personal one when Gourmantic turned 5 years old in June. We had a team celebration on the actual birthday, a progressive bar and restaurant tour to 5 establishments then an unforgettable 5th Birthday Party at Hello Sailor.
As of Friday 19th December 2013, Gourmantic has been on a break but still auto updating with new content. We will return in a very limited capacity on Monday 12th January 2015 then fully on Monday 19th January. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you the happiest of times this Christmas period and the best for a successful 2015.
