NEWS: Frankie’s Pizza, Mexico Food & Liquor, Palings Kitchen & Bar

This week’s round-up of what’s new, what’s cool, what to drink:

Frankie’s Pizza

First came Shady Pines the the Baxter Inn. Now Frankie’s Pizza, the third venture from Anton Forte and Jason Scott opened its doors this week focus is on beer with retro 70s look and feel with a large selection of local and international beers on rotation. 50 Hunter Street Sydney

Mexico

Sydney is about to be hit by Mexican mania this summer. After El Topo in Bondi Junction and its Oaxacan flavours, now Mexico Food and Liquor is dishing out soft shell tacos, quesadillas, house specialties and a host of tequila and Mezcal to boot at the old site of District Dining. 17 Randle St Surry Hills.

Palings Kitchen and Bar

Replacing Mad Cow on Level One of the Ivy complex, Palings Kitchen and Bar which soft launched this week will be serving a new food/courtyard concept. Expect salads, grills, gourmet sandwiches and roasts as well as a patisserie. Level 1 Ivy 330 George Street  Sydney.

With party season here, Bloody Mary‘s are the go. Check out the Panama Mary, Panama House‘s alternative made with Stolen Rum. Keep an eye out for The Roosevelt in Potts Point new cocktail list. We had a preview taste and some of the drinks are world class. And with summer finally gracing our shores, icy cold Ninki Ichi Kuro-ninki Junmaiginjo sake with oysters and sashimi from the Sydney Fish Market are the go on long hot days and night. Kampai!

  • I’m so jealous about that Mexican restuarant… it’s been impossible to get good Mexican food in the south of France. I went to Oaxaca many (many!) years ago and fell in love with the food, what flavors!
