The Ardmore Triple Wood Whisky is a travel retail whisky from Beam Suntory. The Highland single malt is a no age statement whisky matured in American oak barrels, quarter casks and puncheons.
The Ardmore highland single malt Scotch whisky is a major malt used in Teacher’s blend and takes its name from where the Teacher’s family had their house. The distillery, which has been watched over by rare eagles since 1898 employs traditional distilling methods, using aromatic smoke from Highland peat to dry the malted barley.
Bottled at 46% ABV, it is non-chill filtered, 100% peated to 12 to 14 ppm and is considered more premium than the Ardmore Tradition, the other new addition to the travel retail category.
On the nose, light smoke and lots of orchard fruit dominate followed by creamy vanilla. The palate creamy and buttery with a sweetness upfront, some spice with a little smoke in the background. This dram is light and fruity/spicy sweet with a hint of smoke. It finishes dry and fruity with good length.
The Ardmore Triple Wood comes in attractive packaging with metallic ink bearing an eagle, a map of distillery and tasting notes.
